Introduction

The Diploma in Plantation Science program responds to the market demand for trained and skilled manpower in the plantation industry. This course aims to provide a qualified workforce who can contribute to the improvement of quality, standard, and productivity not only focusing on the oil palm industry also food crops industries. It also aims to forge collaborations and links with industry players through the sharing of expertise, knowledge, and experience.

Career Opportunities

The nation has reemphasized the need for the agriculture sector to be strengthened as the sector is expected to play a greater role in the overall economic growth of the country. The oil palm continues to be a dominant contributor to the growth of the agriculture sector. In Sarawak, the rapid growth in the oil palm plantation has created many job opportunities to be filled by local people. Those with Diploma in Plantation Science can seek a position as Supervisor, Cadet and Junior Assistant Manager.

Entry Requirements

  • Pass SPM/SPMV with minimum 3 credits including Science subject; OR
  • Pass UEC with Grade B in 3 subjects including Science subject; OR
  • Pass O-Level or its equivalent with Grade C in 3 subjects including Science subject; OR
  • Pass Certificate in related field with CGPA of 2.00; OR
  • Completed/ Passed Skill Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 3 – Senior Estate Conductor or in a related field AND passed SPM with 1 credit or its equivalent; (for this entry, bridging programme will be offered together with the ongoing curriculum within their studies for 2 semesters; OR
  • SMU3/SMA/SMK/MA with an average mark of 55 AND English Language Proficiency Requirement: IELTS with a score of Band 5.0; OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification(s) recognized by the Malaysian Government.
PLO1 Apply knowledge of mathematics, sciences and crop management to plantation management field.
PLO2 Demonstrate technical skills in plantation management with respect to operation and management including maintenance.
PLO3 Identify, formulate and provide creative, innovative and effective solutions to plantation management problems.
PLO4 Communicate effectively in both written and spoken form with plantation crops, other professional and the community.
PLO5 Function effectively as individuals, and as members in diverse technical teams.
