i-CATS University College, through the Digital Business School (DBS) and the Human Resource Department, successfully organised the Workshop on Self-Instructional Materials (SIM) and Open & Distance Learning Management System (ODLMS) at Hilton Kuching. The workshop marked an important milestone in strengthening the university's readiness to deliver high-quality Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes.
The programme was officiated by Professor Emeritus Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, Vice Chancellor of i-CATS University College, who highlighted the significance of quality Self-Instructional Materials (SIM) in supporting effective online learning. During the session, the Vice Chancellor also announced the approval from the Jabatan Pendidikan Tinggi (JPT), Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) for the university to offer the Master of Business Administration (MBA) (ODL) programme, paving the way for its first student intake in the upcoming semester.
The workshop featured presentations by Adj. Prof. Dr. Behrang Parhizkar, Strategic Partner, and Miss Yasmin Alysaa Binti Elias, IT Executive, who shared practical insights into the development of quality Self-Instructional Materials, Open and Distance Learning requirements, and the effective utilisation of the ODL Management System. The programme concluded with closing remarks by Professor Dato' Dr. Shazali Abu Mansor, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) / Acting Academic, who emphasised the importance of collaboration and institutional readiness in ensuring the successful implementation of quality ODL initiatives.
