The Faculty of Energy Transition (FETr) at i-CATS University College serves as a strategic hub supporting Sarawakâs green energy ambitions. It directly aligns with the stateâs PCDS 2030 goals and the transition toward a low-carbon economy. By embedding Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 7 and SDG 13) into its curriculum, the faculty develops future-ready graduates equipped to lead the regionâs Green Economy transition and address critical talent gaps in climate action and energy security.
FETr integrates advanced Renewable Energy Technology with modernised Oil and Gas expertise to support a comprehensive energy transition. Students gain hands-on experience in solar, hydro, wind, biomass and hydrogen systems, with a strong focus on practical clean-energy deployment. At the same time, the faculty repurposes petroleum engineering skills for Carbon Capture and Storage and decarbonisation initiatives, enabling the transformation of existing energy infrastructure into sustainable, low-carbon operations.
The faculty adopts a holistic, industry-driven educational approach aimed at nurturing technologists and energy professionals capable of developing homegrown sustainable solutions. This ensures Sarawakâs continued leadership in the regional and global clean-energy landscape. Graduates of FETr are well prepared for high-impact careers across the energy ecosystem, including renewable energy providers, utilities, oil and gas companies, mining operations, green mobility and EV industries, and emerging clean-tech ventures. They are also suited for roles in government agencies, regulatory bodies, sustainability organisations, and research institutions. With strong technical expertise and future-ready competencies, FETr graduates are positioned to contribute meaningfully to Malaysia and ASEAN low-carbon energy transition.
