Kuching, 6th January 2024 – Today marked the commencement of an exciting academic journey for 140 enthusiastic students as i-CATS University College opened its doors for the January intake registration day. The two-day event saw a diverse cohort enrolling in programs spanning from foundation to masters, spread across seven faculties.
The faculties offered at i-CATS University College include the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Computing and Software Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, Faculty of Economics, Business and Accounting, Faculty of Multidisciplinary and Sustainability Studies, and the Faculty of Education.
Known for its commitment to providing a holistic and innovative educational experience, i-CATS University College has introduced transformative approaches to education to ensure students receive a comprehensive and practical learning experience.
A notable shift in the traditional academic schedule includes dedicating Wednesdays to both the curriculum and sports activities. This innovative approach seeks to strike a balance between academic excellence and physical well-being, recognizing the importance of a holistic education.
In an effort to align education with real-world applications, i-CATS has implemented a progressive no-exam policy for certain subjects that necessitate hands-on projects. Rather than traditional examinations, students will be evaluated through practical projects, providing them with invaluable skills and insights mirroring real work experiences. This approach aligns with the college’s vision to produce graduates not only academically adept but also equipped with practical knowledge and industry-ready skills.
Prof. Dr. Shahren Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, the Vice-Chancellor of i-CATS University College, emphasized that the new educational approaches are rooted in the institution’s core philosophy, driven by being ‘Student-centered’ and ‘Life-long Learning.’ By placing students at the center of our focus and fostering a commitment to lifelong learning, i-CATS aims to cultivate not only academic excellence but also a spirit of adaptability and continuous growth among its students.
As the registration process continues over the next two days, i-CATS University College remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for success in their chosen fields. With a focus on practical knowledge and a holistic approach to education, the institution aims to set new standards in producing highly skilled and well-rounded graduates.
