About Programme

The Master of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management is a research programme where students complete a thesis under the supervision of an experienced academic or a supervisory panel.

The programme’s structure includes:

  • Student Progress Report every semester: Required until graduation
  • Research Methodology Seminar and Presentation

 

Introduction Content

The Master of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management is committed to producing graduates who can undertake independent research that further advances the fundamental and applied knowledge on education in the country and the wider intellectual communities. Through innovative, research-based educational practices, the programme aims to assist graduates to lead and motivate through a team effort in analytical and communication abilities. As they develop their knowledge through research, the graduates will develop lifelong learning interests and explore and seek opportunities in education with integrity and ethical and professional values.

Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree [Level 6, Malaysian Qualifications Framework, (MQF)] in the Tourism and Hospitality field or related fields with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.75 or equivalent, as accepted by the Higher Education Provider (HEP) Senate; or
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in the Tourism and Hospitality field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA of 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; or
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in the Tourism and Hospitality field or related fields with minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of five years working experience in the relevant field and rigorous internal assessment.
  • Candidates without a qualification in the Tourism and Hospitality field or working experience in related Tourism and Hospitality fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the HEP and meet the minimum CGPA based on (i) to (iii).
  • Students are required to complete the Fundamental of Tourism and Research Methodology course as a prerequisite.
  • For International Students, the minimum score for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is 5.5 or band 4 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET), or its equivalent.
