[Kuching, 21 August 2025] – During the ongoing
1st INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE,
EXHIBITION, & INNOVATION ON PUBLIC HEALTH & INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
SERVICES by University Teknologi MARA (UiTM), held on 19 – 22 August 2025, at Waterfront
Hotel, Kuching, Sarawak, i-CATS University College has won 2
Golds for the category “Winner of Innovation”. The international event, which is also
co-organized by Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, UiTM Technoventure, Universitas
Muhammadiyah Surakarta and Universitas Airlangga, is the first of its kind and
the theme this year is “BUILDING RESILIENT PUBLIC HEALTH
THROUGH COMMUNITY SERVICE”.
The university through its i-CATS
Invention & Innovation Club (i3C), has submitted two Gold winning entries,
namely MEDIGO, which is a Digital Platform for Public Health Access in Malaysia
and EmbraceAura, which
is an AI-enabled wearable headband that provides real-time emotional support
for postpartum mothers. MEDIGO ‘s
development team comprises of undergraduate students of Bachelor of Software
Engineering (Honours), namely, Ronan
Kuek Joo Pern , Alister Goh Zhen Hong and Esmat Danyal Es Zulkarnaen. The
MEDIGO’s team is led by by Mdm. Ts. Nurlaila Binti Rosli, Director of Centre For Information
Technology Management and Senior
Lecturer (Faculty Of Computing And Software Engineering).
Meanwhile
EmbraceAura‘s development team comprises of Mdm. Nur Suryani Rosli, Mdm. Ts
Nurlaila Rosli, Associate Professor Dr. Muhamad Sophian Nazaruddin and
Mr. Mohamad Safiddin Bin Mohd Tahir (lecturer of Faculty Of Engineering And Technology). The team is led by Mdm, Nur Suryani
Rosli. The team also receives technical
support from Professor Ir. Dr. Hushairi Bin Zen (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and
Technology) and Mr Mr.
Abdul Halim Bin Hasbi (lab
assistant from Faculty of Engineering and Technology).
MEDIGO
addresses the acute need for public health information and access due to
infrastructure limitations. Developed
using standard web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL), the
platform incorporates a dual-role system catering to both general users and
healthcare businesses. Key functionalities include location-based service
lookup, bookmarking of healthcare providers, and profile management for service
operators.
Meanwhile,
EmbraceAura addresses mental health concerns through is AI wearable head band
that monitors physiological signals like heart rate, skin temperature, and
electrodermal activity. If a high stress
level is detected, the device responds by generating gentle haptic pulses,
warmth, and personalized audio affirmations via a connected app. Designed to
simulate calming human contact, it offers discreet, adaptive support focused on
maternal well-being, combining technology with mindfulness to promote emotional
health in a user-friendly and compassionate way.
