Sarawak Skills – Matroll Solutions MoU Paves the Way for Educational and Training Initiatives in STEM and IR 4.0

The recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak) and Matroll Solutions has paved the way for a host of educational and training initiatives in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Industry Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0).

Held on 17 July 2020 at the Sarawak Skills’ Headquarters at Tabuan Jaya, Kuching, the signatories to the MoU were Mr. Hallman bin Haji Sabri, Sarawak Skills’ Executive Director and Mr. Loganathan Alagan, Director of Matroll Solutions, Kuala Lumpur.

Commenting on the MoU, Mr. Hallman bin Haji Sabri highlighted, “As a stakeholder in the transformation of Sarawak’s economic and digital landscape, this MoU is an important step forward for Sarawak Skills and Matroll Solutions to design and develop educational and training programmes in STEM and IR 4.0. These programmes are/will be aligned with the State Government’s post COVID-19 exit economic strategy up to 2030.”

He added, “As part and parcel of our ongoing initiatives to develop an agile workforce, the majority of these new programmes will be conducted online. With the option of Blended Learning, learners/trainees will be able to study at their own pace. This industry-friendly approach will go a long way to boost productivity across the various industry sectors.”

Mr. Hallman also shared, “Through this tie-up with Matroll Solutions, an important addition to our group of technology partners, a number of our teaching staff have undergone the “Train-The-Trainer (TTT) Certification Course for STEM Trainers”. The course covers important aspects of Industry Revolution 4.0. This will contribute to the enhancement of our teaching and learning ecosystem, especially training our students to be IR 4.0-ready. This will also be a springboard for Sarawak Skills to offer customized STEM workshops for school teachers and students in Sarawak.”

Also present at the signing of the MOU were Mr. Zakri Md Salleh, Sarawak Skills’ Deputy Executive Director of Education, Training and Student Services and members of the management team.
