DIPLOMA IN SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
Software Engineering plays a vital role in the installation and development of any business operating system. The Diploma in Software Engineering programme provides opportunities to further develop analysis, design and development skills through the exposure of emerging technologies.
This course studies the best approach to design, build and maintain software systems. It makes use of many of the technical results of computer science, especially programming, and application of theory in the process of system design and construction.
Software Engineers will be in demand for their software construction skills and experience of working in a team. Graduates will be able to participate in software design and development, software team management, technical support and research. Successful completion of this diploma will also enable them to pursue undergraduate degree programmes locally and abroad.
i. SPM or its equivalent with minimum 3 credits including Mathematics and a pass in English;
ii. Passed STPM with at least Grade C (GP 2.0) in any subject or any equivalent qualification and a credit in Mathematics at SPM/ O- Level or its equivalent;
iii. Passed Malaysian Vocational and Technical Certificate (equivalent to MQF Level 3) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.0 and one (1) year’s working experience in a related field or completed a one-semester Bridging Programme;
iv. UEC with Grade B in 3 subjects including Mathematics and a pass in English;
v. Completed Computer Certificate (MQF Level 3) in related field with at least CGPA 2.00 and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent;
vi. Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by Malaysian Government.
Candidates without a credit in mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent may be admitted if the Certificate programme contains subjects in mathematics that are equivalent to mathematics at SPM level.
Candidate with a credit in computing related subject at SPM level or its equivalent may be given preferential.
English Proficiency Requirement for International Students
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 500 or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Band of 5.0 or equivalent.
