About Us

Introduction

The HND programme is a programme by BTEC Edexcel from the United Kingdom, which is recognized worldwide. The qualifications are delivered locally but the certification and quality assurance is conducted by the awarding body every semester. Among the features unique to HND programmes are:-

- Outcome based education
- Less emphasis on traditional classroom teaching and more hands-on learning
- Internal and external verification
- More assignment-based and less exam-oriented
- Modular programmes allows greater flexibility for students
- Common skills incorporated into the programme, such as communication, IT and
  management

Course Fees

A course fee has been set for every graduate course at the college. The fees are determined by the course, not the subjects that comprise the course.

Total Fees for the course is RM20,400.00

Program Aim

The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical and Electronic Program aims to produce high quality, creative technicians and engineers. Graduates will be highly sought after and recognized by many international professional bodies.

Program Educational Objectives

After graduation, the students should possess:-

- A high quality qualification that combines both theory and practical to be competent as industry professionals in the field of electrical / electronic engineering. (PA1)
- Good moral values and ethics among the students by inculcating integrity and professionalism. (PA2)
- Outstanding practical skills and knowledge to pursue their education to a higher level. (PA3)

Programme Learning Outcomes

Programme learning outcomes according to the level of study based on the following eight MQF learning outcomes domains as follows:-

i. Apply knowledge and skills to the understanding of mathematics, science and electrical / electronic engineering principles. (LO1) – [Cognitive Domain]
ii. Conduct experiments to analyze, interpret data and conduct troubleshooting. (LO2) – [Psychomotor Domain]
iii. Conduct evaluation on electrical / electronic engineering system, component or process to meet the needs of the industries based on social, economic, manufacturability, and sustainability issues. (LO3) – [Cognitive & Psychomotor Domain]
iv. Be a responsible individual by understanding the professional ethical and social responsibility of a technician / engineering assistant on accountability and integrity. (LO4) – [Affective Domain]
v. Possess teamwork, leadership and interpersonal skills that are relevant to working environment in order to achieve the same objectives. (LO5) – [Affective Domain]
vi. Possess both effective communication and writing skills to disseminate information, generate ideas and use problem solving techniques to convince the expert and non-expert. (LO6) – [Cognitive, Psychomotor & Affective Domain]
vii. Recognize the need to engage in lifelong learning to adapt to new ideas, process and procedure for career development. (LO7) – [Affective Domain]
viii. Demonstrate self-confidence and entrepreneurial skills to set up own business or discover business opportunities. (LO8) – [Affective & Psychomotor Domain]

Career Opportunities

Students completing this programme will be suitable for employment related to the electrical and electronics field in various industries such as oil and gas, power, manufacturing and engineering consultancy. HND graduates are also accepted into Universities in the UK, Commonwealth countries and the United States to continue their Bachelor Degree. Typically, HND graduates are given direct entry to the second year of a Bachelor Degree course at local or oversea universities.

Entry Requirements

i. Passed SPM with at least 3 credits including Mathematics and 1 Science/Technical/Vocational subject and a pass in English;
OR
ii. Passed Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) with at least a full pass in any subject and credit in Mathematics and 1 Science subject at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level;
OR
iii. Passed A - Level with at least grade C in Science or Mathematics;
OR
iv. Passed O - Level with at least grade C in 3 subjects including Mathematics and one Science/Technical/ Vocational subject and a pass in English;
OR
v. Passed Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least a Grade B in 3 subjects including Mathematics and one Science/Technical/Vocational subject;
OR
vi. Completed Certificate in Vocational and Technical/Skills equivalent to MQF Level 3 with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and 1 year working experience in related field (or completed a one-semester Bridging Programme);
OR
vii. Completed Certificate in Engineering/Engineering Technology (MQF Level 3) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00;
OR
viii. Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by Malaysian Government.

Duration

The minimum time for Full-time study to complete a module shall be 2.5 years (4 months OJT).
