About Us

Introduction

Electrical power engineering is a huge industry all over the world, where the development of new power sources such as hydro and solar generated power contribute to a country’s rapid industrialization. This has created considerable demand for expertise in the field. i-CATS plans to meet this demand by offering Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Power) program. The program is to prepare the graduate to work competently in the area of electrical installation, power transmission and distribution, as well as power system operation and protection.

Course Fees

A course fee has been set for every graduate course at the college. The fees are determined by the course, not the subjects that comprise the course.

Total Fees for the course is RM20,400.00

Programme Aims

The Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Power) graduates from Kolej Antarabangsa Teknologi Lanjutan Sarawak will produce semi-professional workers who are competent and able to apply engineering knowledge, hands-on skills, communication skills and able to perform troubleshooting and maintenance in electrical power engineering fields.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

The Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Power) shall produce graduates who are:-

- Excellence technical knowledge (LO1) theoretically and practically (LO2) in the field of Electrical Power Technology(PEO1)
- Lifelong learning (LO7) on new technologies and technopreneurship (LO8) skills to contribute in the advancement of the Electrical Power Technology field (PEO2)
- Skills as a leader (LO9) and engage in teams (LO5) to solve problem (LO3) with effective communication skills (LO4) (PEO3)
- Nobility of moral and ethics (LO6) values in an interdisciplinary and intercultural environment(PEO4)

Program Learning Outcomes (PLO)

PLO1 - Apply knowledge and skills to the understanding of mathematics, science and electrical power technology principles.
PLO2 - Conduct experiments to analyse, interpret data and troubleshooting.
PLO3 - Identify effective solution on electrical power engineering problem to meet the needs of the industry.
PLO4 - Demonstrate effective communication and writing skills to disseminate information and generate ideas to the expert and non-expert.
PLO5 - Perform teamwork, leadership and interpersonal skills that are relevant to working environment in order to achieve the same objectives.
PLO6 - Show understanding of the professional ethical and social responsibility as a technician / engineering assistant in electrical power industry.
PLO7 - Recognize the need to engage in lifelong learning to adapt to new ideas, process and procedure for career development
PLO8 - Demonstrate self-confidence and entrepreneurial skills to discover businessopportunities.
PLO9 - Show integrity and responsibility as an effective leader.

Career Opportunities

This program is suitable for those who intend to work in industries such as power generation, marine and offshore, transportation, manufacturing, etc. Many industries require specialists in electrical/power engineering to carry out electrical work such as installation, maintenance, operation, inspection and testing.

Entry Requirements

i. Passed SPM/SPMV with at least 3 credits, including Mathematics and 1 Science subject;
OR
ii. Passed STPM or equivalent with a pass in Mathematics, English and 1 Science/Technical/Vocational related subject at SPM level;
OR
iii. Passed Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM Level 3) Senior Electrical Technician or Senior Automation Technician or in related field, with at least 1 credit in any subject at SPM level and passed a Mathematics Bridging program (for students who failed Mathematics);
OR
iv. Completed Certificate in Engineering/Engineering Technology (MQF Level 3) or its equivalent;
OR
v. Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by Malaysian Government.

Duration

The minimum time for Full-time study to complete a module shall be 2.5 years (4 months OJT).
